Are you (A Mary) Enough

Mary Magdalene is a person in the Bible who actually knew Jesus. Let me give you some background on our girl Mary. First of all don’t’ get her mixed up with Jesus Mom, this is a different Mary, also don’t mix her up with Lazurs’ sister – Mary (as in Mary and Martha) again different Mary, or Mary the mother of the Sons of Thunder, different Mary. So Mary Magdalene, to start her story Jesus healed her of various evil afflictions and illnesses, she had 7 demons that Jesus cast out of her (Luke 8:1-2). We see from the start she was someone interesting, a vital character in the mix. After this (exit the demons) she was really determined to follow Jesus – she wanted to serve her Savior, she actually travelled with him and the 12 for a good bit of time, although the Bible seems to talk more about the 12 than her and the others that travelled with them too. Of course, that was the way it was back in that day. Much like the feeding of the 5000… how you ask… well when they counted who was fed by the loaves and the fish, they only counted men, they didn’t count women and children. So, if you counted everyone it would be a bunch more people. Making it even more a huge miracle and undertaking. It is estimated that the actual count was around twenty thousand.

John 20:18 (AMP) 18 Mary Magdalene came, reporting to the disciples that she had seen the Lord and that He had said these things to her.

This, of course was after Jesus was crucified, buried and rose. She went to the tomb, and He was there but she did not recognize Him. Once He spoke to her, she realized and was astonished. So, knowing that she was worthy of Jesus time, first to cure her and then to travel with Him, then for Him to give her an important message like this…don’t you think she was more than significant? She would be someone that could and would share what she experienced and witnessed. Especially for that day and time that makes her very meaningful in the story of Jesus, and going further, in the story of life.

So, Mary Magdalene was really “someone” in the scheme of things. Don’t you agree? Oh, I do. So, if a person like Mary filled with demons was enough to be part of Jesus story wouldn’t you agree that you could too? Or me? Of course, we can. The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren (paraphrasing) says that we all have a purpose on this Earth. We are all necessary, needed and we have a job. Do you know yours?

My purpose took some time to finally reveal itself, I mistakenly thought it was one thing and then figured it out later. It is funny how that happened. I felt really narrow minded when I realized it – thinking back to my first thought of what it is. So, about YOUR purpose…

I would even go as far as to say that even people who don’t think they have enough faith to lead out at something – actually you do. It is a matter of owning it. It is all about looking and understanding the possibilities. It is a matter of believing that you are enough that God can use you.

Put it this way – we are all children of the most High King and that makes us worth it and worthy of all things God breathed. That also means that you are only held back by what you believe or do not believe.

I believe it is time to fill our destiny. Take what God gave us and use it for the good.

Love this Annie. Mary Magdalen was an extraordinary woman. We are all extraordinary people providing we believe that, and that can be our biggest challenge.
