The Cheese Done Slid Off their Cracker

It’s that time again. I am about to step up on that SOAP BOX. You have been warned. I’m not looking for a debate or critical comments. I am making an assessment – my opinion.

I just read an article about a parent ripping the mask off of a School teacher in Austin and then yelling at an administrator to remove theirs as well. Now I don’t know the circumstances and I did not read a bunch more after the first paragraph – eye roll. What else needs to be said, are you kidding me? What makes this parent think in any language or culture that its ok to lay hands on another person, much less your child’s teacher. Someone who is trying to help. Now mind you I know that certain situations could be present that would allow the parent to request the teacher to remove the mask but not rip it off. When did it become ok to be this hate filled? Has this parent lost their mind?

Likewise, I have driven the roads since the beginning of this pandemic and noticed that drivers are different since this started. They seem in many cases to have lost their ever loving minds. Why is the place they are going more or less important than where I and the rest of the drivers who are not weaving in and out and swerving are going. I mean I frequently watched as people drove on the right shoulder to pass someone on a two lane road when we were driving the 65 mile speed limit. Also - why would you run up behind me and honk and yell plus offer very negative hand gestures to a driver or drivers who are following the law and driving safely. If you are late – please leave early so you can avoid getting angry.

When a person takes a cartful of toilet paper (not just one package or even two packages) do they consider who might not get some because they did this? Could it be someone who is disabled? Someone on a fixed income who can only shop certain days of the month after the check comes? Why do you need packages and I mean several packages of toilet paper? Are you thinking of your neighbors?

No wonder there are so many people looking at mental health lately. No wonder sometimes it feels like – you look at people and wonder if their cheese done slid off their cracker. Good grief. What to do about all this unharmonious ugly? Why are people allowing it to happen? I’m guilty, I admit I’ve lost my mind a time or two in the last year and a half. The stress builds up and then boom – done. Cheese is gone from the cracker… so in case you don’t “get it” saying your cheese slid off your cracker is a saying that means lost your mind.

But why, why would people lose their minds? Why would they (we) allow anger to crop up anywhere right now especially when the need for peace and forgiveness and love have such a greater need? Have we forgotten? Is that anger so important it overshadows the love of Christ? That it means more than His death and the price He paid for us?

So here I am on my soap box people – I’m shouting this reminder. PLEASE REMEMBER

Isaiah 43:2-4 … When you’re in over your head, I’ll be there with you. When you’re in rough waters, you will not go down. When you’re between a rock and a hard place, it won’t be a dead end— because I am God, your personal God, The Holy of Israel, your Savior. I paid a huge price for you: all of Egypt, with rich Cush and Seba thrown in! That’s how much you mean to me! That’s how much I love you! I’d sell off the whole world to get you back, trade the creation just for you.

That speaks volumes right there. If I were a millennial the proper term now would be – BOOM

Just in case some of you wonder about the terms Cush and Seba in the scripture, these are cities. So if you are American you might say with rich Denver and Vellejo thrown in. These being the top two wealthy cities in America. I looked it up and these are top two. I am surprised because I’d always thought Hollywood or Brentwood were really wealthy cities. Just goes to show.

Dear Heavenly Father – I know you have your hands full these days with folks just getting silly and also those who it is getting to mentally. All of that is so much – and – I know You are the creator of Heaven and Earth so You have wide shoulders. So I am asking in the name of Jesus for some relief. Can You help us remember who’s we are. We need to remember You are watching and wanting our best, every day all day. In Jesus Name I pray. AMEN
