Red on My Ledger

I will admit I am a fan of the Marvel Movies, and not one bit sorry. I love a great movie with a great battle and a great hero, what’s even better is a group of heroes. I love heroes – I love it when GOOD wins out over bad, it just does not get any better – the end of the movie and the Good Guy(s) are left standing there and can breathe a sigh of relief – battle won – what’s next. God is my greatest hero – he answers prayers – sends the manna from Heaven, parts the sea and I think He certainly sends people (not just angels- but they are angels in our eyes) to be heroes to those who need one not just super heroes but wonderful humans who have great hearts, who can speak love and life in to someone who needs it and at just the right time as if divinely placed in your (my) path for just that reason and just that time. So back to Marvel - Something I heard in an Avengers movie really reached me …

"I've been compromised. I've got red on my ledger. Now I need to wipe it out."

When Black Widow (one of the Avengers “hero”) says that she "has a lot of red in [her] ledger," she means that she owes more than she is owed, or that she has many debts she owes to various people for various reasons.

It made me think of this scripture…

Isaiah 1:18 "Come now, let us reason together," says the LORD. "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool." NIV

Do you have red in your ledger? DO you owe more than you are owed? It also makes me think of something a Pastor used to say, Grace is the favor of God when it is unmerited (meaning I did nothing to deserve) and God didn’t require me to do anything to get it. I just have it…so do you! We all have Gods perfect Grace and Mercy. In the New Testament, grace is translated from a term meaning "divine favor," "goodwill," "that which gives joy," and "that which is a free gift." Grace is the undeserved gift of God. ... The Bible tells us that God's grace is manifested in the person of Jesus Christ: “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us.

Today I want to be grateful for my Heavenly Heroes – Grateful for God and His grace, His perfect timing, His willingness and love to send His only Son. Jesus for His sacrifice so that we could live better, be better and do more to advance the kingdom.

I also am grateful for my earthly heroes! My family, who I love without end. The Patriarchs – Dad and Pop, my siblings – Lisa, Steve, Chelle, Dave and Holly, my bonus siblings Kim, Rick & Dorian, my kids Justin (Trisha & Wes, Beccah, Turner & Vada & Andrew) & Sam and my joy –grandbabies Scarlet & baby JJ, my Aunts (Jami & Alice), Uncles, Cousins, Nieces (Brittany, AshLeigh & Morgan), my nephews (Brent, Blake, Josh, Ethan). Tommy & Darrell.

My friends who have so many times over the years felt like extra family.. or Family of Choice…

My amazing accountability partners – God knew what He was doing placing each of you in my life, and now each of you have a bonus person I can love and be loved by. Dear Heavenly Father, I just need to say out loud, Thank You. I know my ledger has some red and I know I did not earn Your love and grace, I am so thankful for it though. Thank You so much for those named above – please cover each one of them as they are so special to me. Cover them for whatever they need today. Thank You – In Jesus Name – AMEN.
