Put Feet To Your Faith

I heard this phrase in different ways, at different times but over the course of my faith walk I’ve heard this said many times. Let’s dive in to what it means.

Since all Christians live in the Spirit, we ought to line ourselves up with the Spirit. A grace-oriented person always casts Him (Her)self on the Spirit of God. When this happens, we stay in harmony with other Christians. We do not provoke or cause envy in them (5:26) because we walk in step with the Holy Spirit.

Galatians 5:25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit

Pastor once said, you can’t attend church on Sunday then live like hell the rest of the week and expect that doing so makes everything ok. It’s not about deeds, but the Bible says those are good to do. It’s about putting feet to your faith, walking the walk and talking the talk. Making your actions and words line up with each other. Folks we can talk a big game… so the question is…when it comes down to it and the rubber meets the road are you putting feet to your faith?

Isaiah 52:7 Amplified Version How beautiful and delightful on the mountains Are the feet of him who brings good news, Who announces peace, Who brings good news of good [things], Who announces salvation, Who says to Zion, “Your God reigns!”

Another expression I heard was “Make your yes’ – YES and your No’s – NO it goes along with feet to faith. The term is saying when you say yes – stand behind what you say, if you say yes then let it be yes and not waiver.

Wavering causes issues. I will tell you in raising a child this is especially the case. Parents need to back each other up and be on the same page for the kiddos. I will say this – kudos to all you single parents out there – I understand your pain of not having a backup. Having to be Mom and Dad, authoritarian and compassion giver. I have been in your shoes and I know. Saying Yes or saying No and meaning it – standing behind it gets exhausting sometimes. I agree – it does. Hang in there.

Just don’t forget you have the Ultimate – backup – Jesus!

Dear Heavenly Father – Thank You for the backup. Be with all of us today who struggle with putting feet to our faith. Give us an extra portion of all we need to get there. We know standing with you in agreement is the perfect position. In Jesus Name we pray - AMEN
